Sunday Evening, A Welcome Guest

It’s Sunday evening a little after seven, but there’s still some light outside. When I look out my window, I see cars and motorbikes rushing down the big six-lane road, and soft rain falling over everything. The summer rain feels extra special tonight. It cools down the hot, sticky air and washes the dust off the streets and buildings. The trees and plants along the sidewalk even look greener.

Korea just went through two weeks of record heat and nonstop sun, so this rain feels like a gift. And honestly, there’s no sound better than raindrops tapping on the window on a quiet night. The forecast says it’ll rain until morning, so I’m kind of excited to fall asleep to that calm, steady sound.

Here’s a photo from earlier today: heavy clouds, swollen with potential rain, seem to be caught on the power lines.
